Archiestown website.........created by Archiestown Village Council, aims to promote the area as a delightful place to live or to spend a holiday. The website describes the local amenities and provides a notice board for the community so that they can keep up to date with village events and village council proposals.
Archiestown is a vibrant community which has expanded in recent years. Currently there are around 180 residents served by a post office/shop and a hotel. The local school is Knockando Primary about 4 miles away.
The village, which has conservation status was founded in 1760 by Sir Archibald Grant of Monymusk. He envisaged a planned village set out on a grid system which is still largely adhered to. The main street is linked east and west by lanes to North and South Lanes. There is a delightful village walk from the playing field and play park where stunning views of Ben Rinnes can be admired.
Local businesses are encouraged to advertise for a small fee. |
